Turkmen, Iranian businessmen strengthening trade co-op

The total value of trade between the Turkmen and Iranian entrepreneurs from January to August 2019 amounted to $86 million, representative of the Turkmen Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Suvkhanmurad Ataev said during the Turkmen-Iranian business forum held in Ashgabat city, Trend reports referring to the “Business-Turkmenistan” agency.

The main Turkmen export items included dried fruits, mineral fertilizers, seeds of agricultural crops, cotton products, in turn, steel pipes, profiles, metal structures, vegetables and fruits were imported.

During the forum, Ataev emphasized that there are all opportunities for opening joint industrial facilities.

During the forum, Chairman of the Turkmen Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dovletgeldy Rejepov and Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Hossein Salahvarzi also made speeches.

The Iranian side expressed its readiness to increase exports of products excluding the oil and gas industry.

“Turkmenistan is an important partner for Iran to enter the Central Asian countries,” Salahvarzi said.

The Iranian representative drew attention to the need to prepare programs to reduce transport costs, simplify customs and visa procedures, establish flights and import-export cooperation by sea.
