Volume of ground transportation up in Georgia

The volume of ground transportation in Georgia increased by 500,000 tons from January through September of this year, compared to the same period in 2018, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistical Office (Geostat).

From January through September of this year, the volume of goods transported by the ground transportation amounted to 30.6 million tons compared to 30.1 million tons for the same period last year.

The number of passengers transported by ground transportation increased by 8.5 million people compared to 2018 and amounted to 317.4 million passengers.

From January through September of 2018, this figure amounted to 308.9 million.

In the reporting period, the number of goods transported through seaports and terminals increased by 1.4 million tons to 12.6 million tons, compared with 11.2 million tons in the same period last year.

The number of containers handled in ports increased by 129,387 units.

At the same time, 459,552 containers were handled from January through September of this year, compared to 330,165 containers for the same period of the previous year.
