Uzbekistan’s Metallurgical Plant (Uzmetkombinat) continues successful implementation of the program for production localization, and the saving of foreign currency through the development of ferroalloy production is one of the main achievements today in this direction, Trend reports citing the company.
“Previously, ferrosilicon and ferrosilicon manganese were purchased in Kazakhstan and Ukraine, and the plant was spending about $17 million annually for this purpose. As a result of the launch of the plant workshop currency funds were saved,” said Ravshan Gafurov, deputy head of the investment department at Uzmetkombinat.
By the end of 2019, Uzmetkombinat is projected to release 10,000 tons of ferrosilicon and 7,000 tons of ferrosilicon manganese. With access to full production capacity, it will be able to supply them to other large industrial facilities of the country. For example, Almalyk and Navoi mining and metallurgical plants are interested in these products, the company said. The production capacity is planned to teach 15,000 tons of ferrosilicon and 10,000 tons of ferrosilicon manganese next year.
Uzmetkombinat also aims at actively developing partnership with small businesses. Thus, refractory materials for the plant are now supplied by the joint venture Bekabad Refractory and TPP Refractory.
On 86 product names that the plant offered for small business cooperative relations, 34 proposals were received. In the near future, combine will start working on number of them, read the message.
Uzmetkombinat produces rolled ferrous metals of various assortments; rolled metal from copper and its alloys (different assortment); basalt slabs, mats and cotton; metal products (wire, electrodes, construction nails, woven steel mesh, enameled household utensils 46 items of more than 282 types); ferrosilicon and ferrosilicomargentz.
The plant also produces the non-metallurgical products such as nitrogen, argon, oxygen; load-lifting electromagnets M42, M62, with a loading capacity of 16 tons and 25 tons; welding flux AN-348 brand.
