Iran looks to bring domestic production's value to $10B by 2021

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.18

Trend:

Iran's ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade plans to boost the domestic production's value to $10 billion by 2021, Trend reports v ia ILNA.

"The ministry has created three groups to support domestic producers," deputy minister Saeed Zarandi said.

"The first group includes goods that currently can be produced domestically, however excessive imports have affected this production. So, goods in this group can only be purchased from domestic producers, and the imports will be banned," he said.

"The second group - domestic businesses that have potential for production that can be supported by the ministry," Zarandi added.

"The third group is related to knowledge-based and tech companies that require academics and university knowledge to produce tech products domestically," he said.

The Iranian official has indicated the country's income has decreased due to US sanctions that in turn affected the payments to the private sector.
