The volume of exports of fruits and nuts in Georgia for 11 months of 2019 in monetary terms amounted to $97.7 million, which is 13.5 percent more compared to the same period in 2018, Trend reports with reference to National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The share of fruits and nuts in Georgia’s total exports for the reporting period reached 2.9 percent.
The main positions in the group were occupied by hazelnuts - $54.7 million, peaches - $12.4 million, tangerines - $5.8 million, bananas - $5 million, apples - $4.4 million, persimmon - $3.7 million, pistachios - $1.4 million, walnuts - $1.2 million, blueberries and other berries - $0.9 million, and oranges - $0.9 million.
From January through November 2018, fruits and nuts worth $86.1 million were exported by Georgia. Their share in the total volume of Georgian exports for that period was 2.9 percent.
The export of vegetables for 11 months of 2019 amounted to $9.9 million, which is 21.8 percent less compared to the same period last year.
The share of vegetables in Georgia’s total exports for the reporting period reached 0.3 percent. The main position in the group was occupied by tomatoes - $2 million, mushrooms - $1 million, potatoes - $0.96 million, and cucumbers - $0.92 million.
From January through November 2018, vegetables worth $12.7 million were exported by Georgia. The share of vegetables in total exports was 0.4 percent.
