Iran announces value of investments to electricity sector in west of Mazandaran province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26

The Iranian government has invested about 1.1 trillion rials (about $26.1 million) in the electricity sector in Western Mazandaran province in northern Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Executive Director of the Western Mazandaran Regional Electrical Company of Iran Keyvan Farahzad, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Farahzad, 330 billion rials (about $7.85 million) of these funds was spent for construction and development in urban areas, 100 billion rials (about $2.38 million) in villages and 240 billion rials (about $5.71 million) on strengthening the power grid.

Farahzad added that 170 billion rials (about $4 million) was spent on reducing electricity losses, 80 billion rials (about $1.9 million) on meter replacement, and 280 billion rials (about $6.6 million) on repairs.

The official said it was planned to allocate 1.41 trillion rials (about $ 33.5 million) for the development of electricity infrastructure in cities and villages this year (starting March 20, 2020).

Iran's Western Mazandaran Regional Electrical Company has more than 600,000 subscribers in housing, public, agricultural, industrial and other fields. They are located in 9 districts in the west of the province.

There are 2 electricity distribution companies in Mazandaran province. One of them is located in the center of the province in the Sari district, and the other in the Noshahr district.
