Official reveals volume of products state to buy from Razavi Khorasan Province

As much as 600,000 tons of wheat will be purchased from farmers at Razavi Khorasan province in northeastern Iran by the state in the current Iranian year (starting March 20, 2020), said Ali Rasoulian the deputy of governor of Khorasan Razavi province, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Rasoulian, wheat to be purchased from farmers will increase compared to the last planting year, and the purchase of wheat will begin in late May.

Rasoulian said that 500,000 tons of wheat were purchased from farmers last planting year. There was 50 percent increase in the volume of purchased wheat, compared to the preceding planting year.

The official said that it is planned to purchase 15,000 tons of rapeseed from farmers this planting year. This figure will increase by 90 percent compared to the last planting year.

Iran's Razavi Khorasan province produces 8 million tons of orchards, crops and livestock products a year. More than 83 types of crops are grown on 1.2 million hectares in Razavi Khorasan province. Agricultural products account for 30 percent of the province's total exports.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set between 25,000 rials (about 59 cents) and 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram of durum wheat in Iran in the current Iranian year. A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products, are purchased from farmers by the state company under a guarantee in Iran.
