Bahar Azadi gold coin price rises in Iran

A new edition of Bahar Azadi gold coin, which has been minted since 1991, was sold for 69.5 million rials (about $1,650) in Iran today, on May 11, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The price of gold coins is falling in the Iranian gold market; however, the price of this coin in the Iranian market was 69 million rials (about $1,640) on May 10.

Meanwhile, the previous edition of one Bahar Azadi gold coin was sold for 66.5 million rials (about $1,580) on April 19.

There is also ¼, ½ and other versions of the Bahar Azadi new gold coin. Half gold coin is worth 35.5 million rials (about $845), while a quarter of the gold coin is sold for 19.7 million rials (about $469).

After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, the Central Bank of Iran issued a gold coin called "Bahar Azadi" and put it up for wholesale and retail sale.

The old gold coins were minted from 1979 to 1991; afterwards, the gold coins began to be produced in a new form.
