Fish production to increase in Iran's Hormozgan province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

It is planned to raise about 480 tons of warm water fish and 17 tons of sturgeon in the Hormozgan province (southern Iran) in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), Abdurrasul Daryayi, Director of the Fisheries Organization of Hormozgan Province, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to Daryayi, last year, more than 600 tons of fish and fishery sector’s products were produced in Iran's Hormozgan province.

Daryayi added that with the activity of 100 people, 145 tons of warm water fish were produced in 105 water facilities on 45 hectares.

The official said that in addition, about 350 tons of warm water fish were produced in 18 water facilities on 350 hectares.

Daryayi said that last year, 15 tons of sturgeon were raised in 15 water facilities.

As many as 42 fishing facilities are planned to be commissioned in Iran’s Hormuzgan province in the current Iranian year (began from March 20, 2020).

There are 22 fishing ports in Hormozgan province.
