Geostat: Trade sector has highest share in total turnover of Georgia's business sector

In first quarter of 2020, the trade sector (including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) had the highest share (37.6 percent) in the total turnover in business sector of Georgia, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat)

This sector is followed by arts, entertainment and recreation industry with 27.8 percent share, manufacturing – 8.9 percent, construction – 5.8 percent, transportation and storage – 5.4 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – 4 percent and other sectors with 10.5 percent share.

In the reporting period, manufacturing (21.6 percent), trade (16.9 percent), construction (15.7 percent) and transportation and storage (9.6 percent) were on the top four places in business sector production value. Rest of sectors had the 36.2 percent share.

In 1Q2020, trade (wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles), manufacturing and human health and social work activities were leading in the business sector by number of employees (accordingly with 27.4 percent, 12.4 percent and 10.5 percent share).

Construction activities (8.6 percent), enterprises engaged in transportation and storage (8.3 percent) and accommodation and food service activities (5.6 percent) also had a significant share.

Tbilisi (77.5 percent), Adjara – 5.7 percent, Kvemo Kartli (4.9 percent), Imereti (3.6 percent), Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti (2.9 percent) were leading in gross turnover.
