By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

A logistics terminal will be established between Iran and Azerbaijan, said Davoud Shaeghi Director of the Planning and Budget Organization of Iran’s branch in Ardabil Province, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to Shaeghi, the construction of a logistics terminal, a joint industrial park, as well as the Ardabil-Parsabad railway is on the agenda between the two countries.

Shaeghi added that in addition, the Parsabad-Sarband and Parsabad-Bilasuvar highways will be widened to four lanes.

The official said that the announced projects are planned to be completed by the end of the current Iranian year (starting March 20, 2020).

Shaeghi said that in addition, 16 trillion rials (about $380 million) has been allocated for the Ardabil-Miyana railway.

Last Iranian year, Azerbaijan and Iran reached a preliminary agreement on the establishment of a joint industrial park in the Parsabad region of Iran's Ardabil province. A few months ago, during the visit of the governor of Iran's Ardabil province Akbar Behnamju to Baku, discussions were held on the industrial park. Both sides agreed to establish a working group and launch a preliminary study on the implementation of this project.

The Parsabad county is located in the north of Iran's Ardabil Province. There are great opportunities for agricultural and food production in this county. The Mughan plain around Parsabad county is considered to have great potential for agriculture. Thus, it is possible to grow agricultural products in these areas 3 times a year.
