Iranian president: number of facilities to be opened by end of year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

A large number of facilities will be opened in Iran by the end of the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Trend reports citing Iranian President office’s website.

According to Rouhani, for example, the plants that are built in the mining and industrial sectors with an investment of 48 trillion rials (about $1.14 billion) in Iran will be put into operation tomorrow (June 11).

Rouhani added that in Iran, facilities and production facilities are put into operation not only on weekends (in Iran, weekends are Thursday and Friday), but on other days as well.

"As a result of new US sanctions against Iran, Iran's annual revenue has decreased by $50 billion," the president said. "However Iran's current budget is 5.7 quadrillion rials (about $135.7 billion)."

Iran's budget was 4.78 quadrillion (about $113.8 billion) in the last year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

The president noted that the sanctions on arms sales to Iran will be lifted in September on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. The sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies and individuals. Iran has put increasing oil exports on its agenda due to a sharp decline in crude oil exports.
