By Fidan Babayeva – Trend:

Another meeting of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation is planned to be held in Baku in autumn, Co-chairman of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii said.

Kryklii made the remarks during a meeting with Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine.

“For this purpose, a big delegation of the Ukrainian government is expected to visit Azerbaijan,” the minister said.

While speaking about dynamic bilateral cooperation, the minister emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects in the field of energy, industry, transport, agriculture, tourism, health and education.

"Azerbaijani investments are very important for Ukraine,” Kryklii said. “Not only the state structures, but also the private sector must participate in the development of economic relations between the two countries.”

“I think that the meetings between the relevant structures of the two countries must be held frequently,” the minister said. “In particular, the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation must further intensify its activity."

The ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine stressed that the existing potential in the field of energy, industry, transport, agriculture, tourism, health and education has not been fully used to increase trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

"Azerbaijan has favorable conditions for the activity of foreign entrepreneurs,” the ambassador said. “The country has implemented a number of regional projects in 2019 to further strengthen the transit potential.”

“A cross-border international transport route running through the East-West international transport corridor stretches from China through Azerbaijan and Georgia up to the European countries,” the ambassador said. “Thus, strong logistic work of the two sides is required on the international transport routes, in which Azerbaijan and Ukraine are participants."

Akhundova said that Ukraine may carry out appropriate work to promote these corridors in the EU countries.

Other issues of mutual interest, including the establishment of the Ukrainian pharmaceutical enterprise in Azerbaijan, an increase in the export of metallurgical products from Ukraine to Azerbaijan and the implementation of joint projects in the field of information and communication technologies, were also discussed at the meeting.
