BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug.4

By Fidan Babayeva – Trend:

Japan has invested about $2 million in Azerbaijan’s Oguz Agro Industry company engaged in the production of tobacco, Director of the Production and Operations Department of the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation Ilham Bayramov told Trend.

Bayramov said that 70 percent of the company's shares belong to representatives of Japan, and 30 percent - to representatives of Azerbaijan.

The tobacco processing plant is located in the village of Sinjan of Oguz district, where a 30-ton chamber for storing finished products is also installed, the director said.

Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan produces agricultural products and exports them in bulk to companies from third countries.

“Azerbaijan is known as an energy producing country, but we also have a national strategy to further expand the agricultural sector. We plan to increase the investment attractiveness of agriculture from the next financial year,” the director said.

Oguz Agro Industry was established on May 5, 2017. President and CEO of the company is Taro Sawada.
