PM: Georgian economy continues to function

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 5

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian economy continues to function, as does the education system and it has no grounds or desire to restrict these today because of the increased number of coronavirus cases, said Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Gakharia said that although the healthcare system is coping with the increasing number of coronavirus cases, this does not mean that the resources of the healthcare system are unlimited.

"A healthcare system’s resources have a limit that we need to consider. To avoid the restrictions we must follow the basic requirements - masks, distancing, hygiene, and care for the elderly, especially in Adjara. We are not telling anyone to stay home except for older people. The institutions should show responsibility, should provide disinfection of buildings and control of their employees so that medical workers can respond quickly if necessary”, Gakharia said.

Georgia has reported 578 new cases of the coronavirus and 375 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Three individuals have died of the coronavirus in the country in the past day.

As of today, there are 45 patients in critical condition in the country.
