Uzbekistan, Turkey develop military cooperation

Uzbekistan and Turkey have signed an agreement on the development of military cooperation, Trend reports referring to Daily Sabah Turkish state newspaper.

Following visits to Pakistan and Kazakhstan in the past days, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Tuesday arrived at Uzbekistan and met with his counterpart Bakhodir Kurbanov in the capital Tashkent.

During the talks, the two defense ministers touched upon aspects that ensure close cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey.

The sides expressed confidence that the friendly relations between the two peoples, having a common religion, language, and historical traditions, will be further strengthened.

“We make efforts to enhance relations in every field. This includes trade, economic, social, political, and, of course, military relations. We have made significant progress,” Akar said.

Following a delegation meeting, the two defense ministers signed a military cooperation agreement.

In addition, the Turkish Defense Minister met with the Secretary of the National Security Council of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov.
