By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation by increasing the volume of export-import operations, expanding the range of goods supplied and services provided to each other, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

This was said during an online meeting of representatives of Turkmenistan with Kazakhstan’s Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Mangistau region.

During the meeting, proposals were made to diversify cooperation in such areas as the fuel and energy sector, transport and communication, construction materials production, trade, agriculture, textile, chemical and food industries, and others.

Thus, entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan noted the readiness to actively participate in joint projects of national and regional significance with Turkmenistan.

The parties also noted the importance of implementing previously reached agreements. Meanwhile, the sides emphasized that the impetus for the development of interstate dialogue was given by the agreements between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Currently, the countries are cooperating in energy resources exports. In particular, Kazakhstan exported 89.9 tons of petroleum products worth $103,182 to Turkmenistan in 1H2020.

Kazakhstan is involved in a big project to supply Central Asian gas to China. Since 2009, China National Petroleum Corporation has been purchasing Turkmen fuel transported through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
