Turkmenistan has prepared a project for the construction of new greenhouses for growing bananas and citrus fruits, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Chary Gylydzhov during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

It was proposed to build modern greenhouses for growing bananas and citrus fruits in Turkmenistan’s Kaakhkinsky district of the Akhal region and the Vekilbazar district of the Mary region, the report says.

According to the projects, the greenhouses will be furnished with innovative equipment using modern irrigation methods. Thus, it is planned to conduct tests on the cultivation of bananas, as well as tangerines, oranges, and other citrus crops.

As reported, the first harvest of bananas was held last year in the same greenhouse, where almost 50 tons of bananas were collected.

There are other exotic fruits growing in Turkmenistan. For example, in the greenhouse of the Turkmen Agricultural University, fruits of exotic papaya were cultivated.
Earlier, a new greenhouse has been commissioned in the city of Balkanabat of Turkmenistan’s Balkan region

The total area of the greenhouse is 5 hectares of land, 4 of which have already planted about 93,000 tomato seedlings. According to the plan, from each bush, it will be possible to receive from 7 to 17 kilograms of fruit by June next year.
