Russian Export Center talks successful activity in Azerbaijan during COVID-19

The Russian Export Center (REC) successfully launched the format of business missions in the online space in the first two quarters of 2020, Head of the REC representative office in Azerbaijan Nuri Guliyev told Trend.

According to Guliyev, during the COVID-19 pandemic, REC revised the list of exhibitions and business missions for 2020.

“We had switched a bulk of our events into online mode, including business missions. A number of business missions of Azerbaijani business with regions and export support centers in the regions of Russia were held. As of early September 2020, we conducted an online Business Mission of Russian enterprises in the field of education. The event was attended by about 20 Russian and Azerbaijani companies, as well as representatives of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education,” the head said.

Touching upon economic indicators for the past years, Guliyev noted that the volume of supported exports to Azerbaijan in 2018 was $283 million, and in 2019 - $511 million.

“Indicative and key deliveries in the first two quarters of 2020 were the supply of ethyl alcohol for sanitary needs for $2 million, sugar for $1.8 million, fittings and rolled metal products for $10 million, medicines for $100,000. Moreover, a large contract worth $8 million was signed in June 2020 for the supply of mineral fertilizers for agricultural needs,” he added.

The Russian Export Center (REC) is a state institute for support of non-resource non-energy exports, which provides domestic exporters with a wide range of financial and other support measures.
