Georgia reveals volume of Gross Domestic Product

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Georgia at current prices amounted to 49.25 billion lari ($15 billion) in 2019, up by 10.4 percent year-on-year, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In 2019, the real GDP growth amounted to 5 percent and the deflator percentage change equaled 5.2 percent year-on-year.

The largest shares of GDP by activity are held by Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (14.3 percent) and real estate activities (11.5 percent), followed by manufacturing (10.1 percent), construction (8.5 percent), agriculture, forestry and fishing (7.4 percent), public administration and defense; compulsory social security (6.9 percent), transportation and storage (6.6 percent), accommodation and food service activities (5.2 percent) and financial and insurance activities (5.1 percent).

Real growth was registered in Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (8.3 percent), accommodation and food service activities (18.5 percent), arts, entertainment and recreation (22.1 percent), Information and communication (21.4 percent), transportation and storage (8.4 percent), real estate activities (4.1 percent).

A decrease in the real value-added was recorded in financial and insurance activities (-7.5 percent), public administration and defense; compulsory social security (-1.6 percent), other service activities (-12.3 percent).
