BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 19

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

So far, Azerbaijan has exported wine products to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, China, Israel, Poland, as well as to the US, Chairman of the Wine Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan Elchin Madatov told Trend.

According to Madatov, the export geography is expanding every year, and winemakers are successfully exporting local products to new markets.

The process of creating new brands of wine products is constantly underway in Azerbaijan, he said.

“At the same time, a decline is observed in total production, sales, and consumption in the domestic market. This is due to the spread of the coronavirus and the measures taken regarding it for partial isolation, determined by the Operational Headquarters under the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers,” the chairman said.

Touching upon the topic of the activities of the offices of wine companies during the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Madatov said that the offices have switched to remote work, but the production itself continues in a simplified, shift form.

“Alcohol producers are gradually establishing online sales, agreements have been reached with courier services that deliver within the city of Baku. Some companies ship through their sales representatives,” he said.

The main exporters of Azerbaijani wine products are Shaki Winery, Jalilabad Winery, Ganja Winery, Goygol Winery, as well as a number of private companies engaged in the production of alcoholic beverages.
