Turkmenistan, UN review results of joint action plan for current year

Turkmenistan and the UN reviewed results of the joint action plan for 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The reviews were held during a videoconference of the heads of ministries and departments of the Central Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Services of Turkmenistan and the heads of UN agencies on November 19, 2020.

The parties considered priority issues of joint activities in the field of disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness for 2021, including strengthening interagency coordination and implementation of joint programs and projects within the framework of the signed joint action plans.

In addition, the parties identified the areas of activity and composition of the national platform for disaster risk reduction, regulatory provisions necessary for the implementation of the law of Turkmenistan on international humanitarian assistance in an emergency, as well as priority issues for the development of regional cooperation in the field of emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan confirmed the state's commitment to participate in the UN activities.

The head of the foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan confirmed the country's commitment to participate in UN activities to counter common challenges and threats to regional and international security, including terrorism, extremism, cross-border crime, and human trafficking.
