Azerbaijan ramps up exports to CIS countries

Azerbaijan's exports to the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) totaled $1 billion in the first ten months of 2020 against $980 million a year earlier, thus having grown by 11.7 percent, Trend reports on Nov.23 citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

According to the bulletin, CIS’s share in the overall export of Azerbaijan for the reporting period rose from 5.83 to 8.95 percent.

The volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and CIS countries in 10M2020 amounted to $3.37 billion, which is 10 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

At the same time, the value of CIS’ exports to Azerbaijan dropped from $2.7 billion to $2.2 billion. The share of the CIS in the total import of Azerbaijan made up 25.94 percent, while a year earlier – 24.27 percent.

The balance of the foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan with the CIS countries for the reporting period remained negative, having equaled almost $1.18 billion.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through October 2020 amounted to over $21 billion, while a year earlier this indicator was 25.7 percent less.

Meanwhile, the balance of foreign trade turnover decreased by 25.7 percent on an annualized basis, amounting to over $21 billion.

Currently, Russia remains the main sales market for Azerbaijani oil and agricultural products among the CIS countries.
