Iran to supply livestock feed to producers

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.7

Trend:

Despite all pressures, chicken and egg supplies are provided and there is no limit in delivering these items, said Iran's Minister of Agriculture.

"There are no limits in providing supply to producers of egg and chicken. Producers have shown in the past two weeks that they have been dedicated to supplying these items to people and are concern over the increase in prices," said Kazem Khavazi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Producers were attentive and many big poultry prices were reduced so they are accessible for people. The production volume of the egg is more than domestic need, there are no current limits in providing egg in markets," he said.

"Price of egg per kilo is currently between 130,500 rial (about $3) and 140,500 rial (about $3.4)," he added.

According to Khavazi, there are no problems in regard to livestock input for producers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industrial, Mine, and Trade, and the Central Bank of Iran are following the issue.

"There is a need for a similar cohesive plan to reduce the price of chicken because the price of chicken per kilo has reached 200,000 rials (about $4.7) in some provinces including Semnan and Qom," he said.

He also pointed out that dealers that profit from the increase in prices should be stopped, the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, and the Ministry of Agriculture are responsible to distribute chicken to market properly.
