Volume of fish exported from Iran to Azerbaijan declared

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 17

About 16 tons of fish worth $16,500 were exported to Azerbaijan from the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through September 21, 2020), said Hassan Eshaghi, Director General of the Fisheries Department of Iran's Mazandaran Province, Trend reports citing the department’s website.

According to Eshaghi, 10 tons of carp grown in cages, 1 ton of caught carp and 5 tons of trout were exported to Azerbaijan.

He added that in total, 461 kilograms of caviar worth $286,000, 60 tons of sturgeon worth $342,000, 4,550 tons of various fish worth $12.7 million and 1,590 tons of fish feed worth $716,000 were exported from Mazandaran Province to various countries over the first 6 months of the current Iranian year.

The director general noted that the caviar was mainly exported to Germany, Britain, Russia and the countries around the Persian Gulf.

"A total of 7,800 tons of fishery products worth $16.7 million were exported from Mazandaran Province within the reporting period. This is an increase of 40 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year," he said.
