Georgia increases volume of apple exports to Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 29

Some 21 tons of apples were sent from Georgia to Turkmenistan from August 1 through December 27, 2020 for a total amount of $12,600, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal information portal.

In total, Georgia exported 8,000 tons of its apples in the amount of $3.4 million in the reporting period, which indicates an increase in the volume of exports by 14 times.

This year, the main export of Georgian apples was to Russia – 7,600 tons, in addition to Russia, exports were made to Kazakhstan, Hungary, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries.

Turkmenistan also exports various products to Georgia.

As earlier the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia told Trend, Turkmenistan exported various products to Georgia for a total of $ 597,300 from January through August 2020.

Meanwhile, Turkmen exports to Georgia amounted to $173,200 for the same period of last year, and - $240,100 for the whole last year.

Data for 2017, 2016, and 2015 shows that the amount of Georgia's imports of Turkmen products for the entire year is equal to the amount from January through August. In particular, in 2017, the number of Turkmen exports to Georgia was equal to $53,300, in 2016 – $34,200, and in 2015 – $41,400.
