Iran boosts mobile phone imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 11

Iran's mobile phone imports increased by 27 percent in terms of number and 65 percent in terms of value during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to Latifi, Iran imported 8.62 million mobile phones worth $1.34 billion within 9 months.

Latifi added that while in the same period last Iranian year, 6.78 million mobile phones worth $808 million were imported to Iran.

“The mobile phone is considered the second largest product imported by Iran over the reporting period, after corn,” the official noted.

As reported, Iran imported 25 million tons of goods worth $26.8 billion in nine months. The imports decreased by 16 percent in terms value and 1 percent in terms of volume.
