Azerbaijan raised revenues from the export of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls as of early Dec.2020 by 16.6 percent or $26.5 million, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the country’s State Customs Committee (SCC).
According to the committee, the share of these products in the total export of Azerbaijan made up $186.1 million, and their share in the total export grew from 0.87 to 1.42 percent.
“In the import of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls, a significant decrease has been observed over the year, which stood at $10.9 million. A year earlier this figure was over $2.1 billion. The share of these products in Azerbaijan's total imports amounted to 0.11 percent, decreasing in annual terms by 17.22 percent,” said the SCC.
In general, the volume of foreign trade turnover of precious and semi-precious stones, as well as natural pearls, amounted to $197 million, which is 11.7 times less compared to the same period of 2019.
As of early Dec. 2020, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to more than $22.7 billion. Of these, more than $13 billion, or 57.42 percent, accounted for exports, and over $9.6 billion, or 42.58 percent, for imports.
