Uzbekistan eyes attracting Russian companies for implementing pharma-related projects

Uzbekistan and Russia considered project proposals for the attraction of Russian companies to the implementation of joint projects in pharmaceutical industry, as well as a number of free economic zones specializing in the production of pharmaceutical products, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

The mentioned issue was discussed during the meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the leadership of Russian pharmaceutical companies with the heads of relevant ministries and departments of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed a wide range of practical aspects of cooperation, in particular, the rules and procedures for the procurement and use of medicines, medical equipment and other medical products in force in medical institutions of Uzbekistan.

The leadership and experts of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Center for Development of Investment Projects under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, as well as the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry acquainted the leadership of Russian pharmaceutical companies with the current state and promising areas for the development of the sphere, the existing benefits, preferences, regulatory measures and conditions aimed at attraction of foreign companies for joint implementation of projects, lists of manufactured and imported medicines.

In addition, specific project proposals developed to attract Russian companies to the implementation of joint projects were considered, and detailed information was provided on specialized investment and production sites created in Uzbekistan, such as the innovative research and production cluster Tashkent Pharma Park, as well as a number of free economic zones, specializing in the production of pharmaceutical products.

It is reported that the delegation will continue to work on establishing direct contacts with Uzbek entrepreneurs, identifying specific project proposals for the subsequent development of mechanisms for cooperation with subjects of the pharmaceutical industry of Uzbekistan.

Moreover, it is planned to hold a number of meetings and negotiations in the B2B format with representatives of more than 25 Uzbek pharmaceutical companies with visits to enterprises in various regions of the country during the visit of the delegation in Uzbekistan.
