Iran's Secretary of Nanotechnology Development discusses countries global ranking

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.11

Trend:

Iran shares 6 percent of the world's nanotechnology products and experienced a leap in this sector, said the Secretary of the Nanotechnology Development.

"The sale of nanotechnology products in last Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) was about $952 million, and about $95 million value-added tax was paid to the government's treasury," said Saeed Sarkar, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"Although the budget for the assigned nanotechnology development is $14 million and we have informed the government that investment in nano sector would increase the revenues, I predict our nanotechnology products sale in current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) would be around $2 billion," he noted.

"The precise planning has led to jump in nanotechnology sector and Iran ranked the third country in the world after China and the US that started policymaking in the field of nano. Iran ranked fourth in the world in the field of nanotechnology due to proper policymaking and expert human resources," he added

Sarkar went on to say that Iran has first targeted a ten-year plan in 2005 to reach rank 15 in the world in nanotechnology. The Supreme Leader has ordered the budget for 2 percent target production would be equal to 2 percent of investment done by other countries to increase the productivity.
