Volume of fish caught in Iran's Golestan Province announced

About 304 tons of various bony fish were caught in Caspian Sea in the Golestan Province (northwestern Iran) for about 5 months, Deputy Director of Golestan Province Fisheries Department, Mohsen Yahyaei said, Trend report citing the department’s website.

The deputy director emphasized that the fishing of bony fish from the part of Caspian Sea in the Golestan Province begins on October 6 and continues to April 4. It is estimated that 350 tons of bony fish will be caught during the reporting period.

Yahyaei added that the kutum, mullet and carp fish are mainly caught from the Caspian Sea.

“About 357 tons of bony fish were caught during the fishing season in the last year,” he said.

The official noted that in addition, 228 sturgeon caught in a non-standard way in the waters of Golestan Province since the beginning of current fishing season have been returned to the sea.
