Trend:
A total of 25,000 jobs were created in the free zones of Iran during the past eight years, said the Secretary of Iranian Free Zones High Council Hamidreza Momeni, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"Comparing the unemployment rate in Chabahar Free Zone and it's neighboring provinces, it shows the important role of the free zones in employment," said Momeni.
"By using capacities of investment companies, there would be less need of allocating lands for the free zones," he said during a meeting with managers and businessmen in Chabahar Free zone.
"In the past two years, the trade balance of free and special economic zones was positive," he said, adding that Chabahar, Qeshm and Maku free zones are ahead of other free zones in terms of cooperation between Iran and China.
"Lack of comprehensive plan is an important issue as far as some free zones are concerned," he pointed out.
"Production is the focal point of the country's free zones and there should be more support," he said. "The new approach for the free zones is to support private sector in increasing production and employment," he said.
