Share of small entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan's GDP remains unchanged

The share of small entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan's GDP from January through June 2021 remained unchanged, amounting to 53 percent (the same 53 percent in 1H2020), Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the Committee, 53,000 new small businesses and microfirms were created in 1H2021, which is 13.9 percent more than the same period of 2020.

It is noted that the largest number of small businesses and microfirms were created in the field of trade – 18,725, industry – 11,104, rural, forest and fisheries -7,782, construction – 3,609, living services and nutrition – 3,341, transportation and storage – 1,317.

In the structure of the regions, the largest share falls on Tashkent and, in general, the total number of newly created small enterprises and microfirms amounted to 16.5 percent, in Kashkadarya region - 12.2 percent, in Samarkand region – nine percent, in Tashkent region – 8.66 percent, in Fergana region - 8.5 percent, in Namangan region - 6.4 percent, in Surkhandarya region - 6.1 percent.

The volume of exports of products (work, services) of small entrepreneurship in 6M2021 amounted to $1.6 billion, or 22.2 percent of its total volume, while imports amounted to $5.4 billion or 49.0 percent of its total volume.

In addition, the share of small entrepreneurship in the total production of industrial products during the reporting period amounted to 24 percent. The volume of retail turnover of small business entities amounted to 84 trillion soums ($7.9 billion), or 80.5 percent of its total volume.

Moreover, the volume of construction work performed by small business entities amounted to 36.5 trillion soums ($3.4 billion), or 75.1 percent of their total volume. At the same time, the subjects of small entrepreneurship provided services for 64.3 trillion soums ($6 billion) (50.4 percent of their total volume).

As for small entrepreneurship in the total carriage of goods, their share amounted to 44.1 percent. In the period under review, the proportion of small entrepreneurship in the total volume of cargo turnover amounted to 72.3 percent.

Also, the share of small entrepreneurship in the total carriage of passengers amounted to 92.9 percent. The share of small entrepreneurship in the total volume of passenger traffic accounted for 94.9 percent.
