Uzbekistan records decrease in export of tomatoes

For seven months of 2021, Uzbek producers exported 71,400 tons of tomatoes for $51.4 million, showing a decrease of 8.5 percent compared to the same period of the last year Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.

Russia became the main market for tomatoes with 37,200 tons of imported tomatoes which is more than half of the total volume sold.

The second place in terms of export volume was taken by Kazakhstan. The neighboring country purchased 20,500 tons. This is followed by Kyrgyzstan (11,700 tons) and Tajikistan (1,900 tons).

Tomatoes were also sold to Belarus (53.6 tons), the USA (20.9 tons), Afghanistan (12 tons), Ukraine (9.1 tons), the United Arab Emirates (8.8 tons), and Germany (0.5 tons).

According to the State Statistics Committee, for seven months of 2021, the volume of Uzbekistan’s exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to 841,800 tons. In value terms, the figure exceeded $479.4 million, which is 3.8 percent less than last year's level.
