Swiss chocolate company Camille Bloch is starting innovative cultivation of hazelnuts in Georgia, the representative of Camille Bloch told Trend.
According to her, the company is launching a hazelnut plantation in Georgia, in the Kakheti region.
"This year, we started to plant the first rootstocks. As it will take a few more years till we can harvest our hazelnuts," she said.
Our project is a hazelnut orchard with innovative cultivation of hazelnuts. We do not plan to construct a cracking facility or other processing plants, she noted,
According to her, this is the most ambitious project for Camille Bloch. It's a long-term investment.
"We have received a lot of advice and support from the Produce in Georgia agency (non-financial)," she noted.
Camille Bloch is a Swiss chocolate producer based in Courtelary. It was founded in 1929 in Bern by Camille Bloch, a Bernese chocolatier then moved to Courtelary in 1935. In 2016, Camille Bloch produced about 3,500 tons of chocolate, generating sales of around 60 million swiss francs($65.2 million).
