Iran's steel production increases

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.19


Iran is pursuing to increase steel production by manufacturing 9.9 million tons of steel ingot in the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021), Trend reports citing IRNA.

The country's major companies in mining and mineral industries sector have suffered a 12-percent decline in steel ingot production compared to the same period last Iranian year (started March 20,2020) that was partly due to power outage.

The Mobarakeh Steel Company had the highest share in steel ingot production in the country by manufacturing 4.4 million tons, while Khuzestan Steel Company and Esfahan Steel Company followed in second and third places accordingly.

Meanwhile, Iran National Steel Industrial Group has reached a 24-percent production growth among all domestic production companies during this period.

The country's steel manufacturing companies have exported 3.1 million tons of steel from March 21 to September 22, which indicates a 48-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
