Turkmen Commodity and Raw Material Exchange puts up licorice roots, rhizomes for sale

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 31

The State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange of Turkmenistan has put up unrefined dried licorice roots and rhizomes up for sale, Trend reports referring to the exchange.

According to the quotation, 1,000 tons of dried licorice roots and rhizomes are sold for $500 per ton.

The term of the purchase is full prepayment. This particular lot is listed for foreign markets only.

The seller is Health and Medical industry Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The trades at the exchange are held from Monday to Friday.

The products of the Turkmenistan’s Buyan plant, which was commissioned in 2008 in Turkmenabat, are widely used in the country's medical industry. Last year the plant produced 680 tons of dry and 610 tons of thick extract from 2,960 tons of purified licorice root.

Peeled pressed roots, as well as extracts from it, are primarily exported to China, Russia, the US, France, the UK, India, Serbia, the UAE, and South Korea.
