Iran boosts exports through customs of Zanjan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2

Iran’s exports through the customs of Zanjan Province (western Iran) increased by 108 percent in value and 91 percent in volume, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Director-General of Zanjan Province Customs Office, Mirhashem Ahmadi told ISNA, Trend reports.

The director general noted that 270,000 tons of goods worth $489 million were exported through the province's customs in 11 months.

Ahmadi added that the exported goods were mainly zinc ingots, profile, lead ingots, dried fruit, copper, polymer, dairy products and etc.

“These goods were mainly exported to Turkey, China, Iraq, the UAE, Russia, Pakistan, India, Oman, Uzbekistan and Georgia,” he said.

The director general also pointed out about 50 percent (over $244 million worth) of the total exports via the province’s customs for the reporting period were carried out to Turkey.

According to him, 535,000 tons of goods worth more than $336 million were imported through the province's customs over 11 months. Imports increased by 33 percent in value and 36 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Ahmadi stressed that the main imported goods were equipment and spare parts.

The customs official noted that the province's customs revenues amounted to 2.68 trillion rials (about $63.9 million) in 11 months, which is an increase of 41 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
