BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9. In total, Iran imported about 10.4 million tons of goods worth $4.47 billion from the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, Iran’s imports from EAEU member states increased by 90 percent in value and 73 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

Within last Iranian year, Iran imported 9.1 million tons of goods worth $4.05 billion from Russia, which is an increase of 88 percent in value and 67 percent in volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year, Latifi added.

The spokesman noted that Iran's imports from Kazakhstan for the reporting period amounted to 1.24 million tons worth $379 million. This is an increase of 88 percent in value and 67 percent in volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year.

“In addition, Iran imported 9,280 tons of goods worth $28.6 million from Belarus over last Iranian year, which is a decrease of 8 percent in value and 28 percent in volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year,” he said.

The customs official also pointed out that Iran imported 935 tons of goods worth $1.66 million from Kyrgyzstan last Iranian year, which is a decrease of 35 percent in value and 57 percent in volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year.

“Over last Iranian year, Iran imported a total of 4,470 tons of goods worth $9.07 million from the remaining EAEU member states,” he said.

In general, Iran’s trade turnover with EAEU member states for the last Iranian year amounted to 13.1 million tons worth $5.64 billion, which is an increase of 66 percent in value and 51 percent in volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year.
