Iran launches contract-based rice farming

TEHRAN, Iran, May 12. Iran's Ministry of Agriculture is launching contract-based rice cultivation in Mazandaran Province, on 26,000 hectares of land, said the Director-General of Provincial office in Ministry of Agriculture Hoshang Mohammadi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The Ministry of Agriculture has signed direct contracts with farmers to produce rice in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022). This would help maintain the market," he said.

According to the official, Mazandaran Province has implemented the contract-based farming project well and exceeded the expectations.
