BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Iran is expected to face a decrease in harvesting of some agricultural products due to a 4.6 percent decline in the land area for crops for the current planting season in country (September 11, 2021 through September 10, 2022), compared to last season, Trend reports via the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran.

According to the statistics, a total of 57.8 million crops were harvested from 12 million hectares of land in the last agriculture season.

Last season, wheat was planted on more than 6.6 million hectares, accounting for 56 percent of the total sowing area. As a result, 10.4 million tons of wheat was harvested last season, which is 18 percent of the total crops harvested.

The area for wheat has decreased to 6.5 million hectares in the current season.

At the same time, the area for paddy is expected to decrease by 12.3 percent, for barley - by 4.3 percent this season.

Also, the area for saffron is expected to decrease by 2.2 percent, while for sugar beet - by 4.3 percent for this season.
