Iran increases domestic wheat purchase

TEHRAN, Iran, September 28. The Government Trading Company of Iran’s domestic wheat purchase from farmers has grown 55.2 percent in the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022), Trend reports citing IRNA.

The statistics released he by the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade indicate that 7.3 million tons of wheat have been purchased by the state-owned company showing 256.4 percent growth in value and 55.2 percent increase in weight compared to the same time in the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2021).

The Government Trading Company purchased 99,900 tons of oil seeds including (rapeseed, soy and sunflower seed) in the first five months of the current Iranian year which had a 62.2 percent rise in value and a 21.8 percent decline in weight compared to the previous year.

According to statistics the Government Trading Company did not purchase rice domestically in the past two years.
