TEHRAN, Iran, November 7. Iranian-Russian Port of Salianka is a strategic base for expanding trade with the Caspian Sea countries and developing the International North-South Transportation Corridor, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
Salianka port shares 20 percent of portal operations in Astrakhan. Iran Shipping Line Group has invested $10 million in the port which is partly used for the purchase of vessels with the capacity to transport 270 containers. In addition to the following investment, Russia will also provide credit for purchasing new equipment and renovating wharves and roads.
The statistics released by Iran Shipping Line Group show that 470,000 tons of cargo were traded between Iran and Russia during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022) indicating a 30 percent increase in Salianka port operation compared to the previous year.
Iran Shipping Line Group seeks to develop shipping in Salianka port as part of the International North-South Transportation Corridor (INSTC). The Iranian shipping company has established offices in Moscow and Saint Petersburg to accelerate trade with India, China, UAE, and the CIS countries.
