BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. Local van production in Iran increased by 267 percent over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), as was reflected in the statistics of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Trend reports.
According to the statistics, Iran manufactured 3,164 vans domestically within the last Iranian year, while in the preceding year, the figure stood at 862.
Meanwhile, in the 12th month of the current Iranian year alone (February 20 through March 20, 2023), 125 vans were manufactured in the country. This is an increase of 213 percent compared to 40 units in the same month of the preceding year.
Reportedly, on average, Iran produces 10,000 local vans per year.
Overall, about 1.35 million various vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-ups, heavy trucks and trailers, vans, buses and minibuses, etc. were manufactured in Iran, which is an increase of 39 percent compared to the about 971,000 units in preceding Iranian year.
Also, Iran manufactured about 113,000 various vehicles in the 12th month of the last Iranian year alone. This is an increase of 86 percent compared to 60,800 units in the same month of the preceding year.
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
