BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 5. The iron ore pellet production of 10 major Iranian companies increased by 13.7 percent for the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
As stated in the data of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), the mentioned 10 companies produced about 22.9 million tons of iron ore pellets in 5 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the production stood at 20.1 million tons.
In the 5th month alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), these companies produced 3.62 million tons of iron ore pellets. This is 33.2 percent more than the same month last year (about 2.72 million tons).
On average, about 50 million tons of iron ore pellets are produced annually in Iran.
Reportedly, the steel industry is one of the key sectors for Iran’s non-oil production and exports. Iran has set a goal to become a global leader in steel manufacturing by boosting its output in this field.
