BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 18. The unemployment rate in Iran among citizens aged 15 and over decreased by 9.3 percent during the summer season of the current Iranian year (June 22 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the data from the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI), the number of unemployed people in Iran for the mentioned three months was over 2.11 million, which accounted for 7.9 percent of the active society.
The number of unemployed between the ages of 15 and 24 was over 536,000, while the number of unemployed between the ages of 18 and 35 was 1.52 million.
Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people with higher education in the country stood at 905,000 in the summer, which is a decrease of 5.25 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
In total, the number of people aged 15 and over in Iran was about 64.5 million within the summer of this Iranian year. Of these, about 37.7 million, or 58.4 percent, were considered inactive for economic activities, while 26.8 million, or 41.6 percent, were considered active for economic activities.
