BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The iron ore concentrate production of 9 major Iranian companies rose by 0.7 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), Trend reports.
Data from Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) shows that these companies produced about 28.8 million tons of iron ore concentrate in 7 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period previous Iranian year, the production stood at around 28.6 million tons.
During 7 months, the Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company produced 6.33 million tons of iron ore concentrate, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company – 6.12 million tons, Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company – 5.36 million tons, Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO) – 2.62 million tons, and Sangan Mining Industries Company – 2.22 million tons.
At the same time, Central Iron Ore Company of Iran produced 2.18 million tons of iron ore concentrate, Sanabad Inclusive Development Industrial and Mining Company – 1.52 million tons, Opal Parsian Sangan Industrial and Mining Company – 1.4 million tons, Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company – 805,000 tons, and Jalalabad Iron Ore Complex – 232,000 tons.
In addition, the mentioned companies sent 10.8 million tons of iron ore concentrate to relevant companies for steel production within 7 months. This is 23 percent more than the same period last year.
As reported, Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. Iron ore concentrate is used in steel production, and Iran has a capacity to produce around 40 million tons of raw steel and steel products annually.
