BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. Iran has increased its non-oil exports by 39 percent in value and 26 percent in volume through the Sumar border market in Kermanshah Province, western Iran, in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, official of the Kermanshah Province Customs Office, Ali Asghar Abbaszadeh said, Trend reports.

The official noted that the Sumar border market exported more than $486 million worth of non-oil products, weighing 1.06 million tons, during the reporting period.

Abbaszadeh added that the main export items were construction materials, ceramics, marble stone, agricultural products, eggs, milk and dairy products, etc.

He also said that most of these products were exported to Iraq and other neighboring countries.

In general, Iran’s Kermanshah Province has two border customs and five border markets.

Overall, Iran’s non-oil exports reached $32.2 billion in value and more than 90 million tons in volume in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023).

Compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year, the value of non-oil exports decreased by 1.6 percent, while the volume increased by 27 percent.

Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil, which are subject to US sanctions that prevent Iran from exporting them freely. Therefore, Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil exports to cope with the economic pressure.
