BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 21. Turkmenistan was Iran’s top potato buyer in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Trend reports.
Data from Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran shows that Iran exported 50,400 tons of potatoes, worth $188 million to Turkmenistan in the nine-month period.
Meanwhile, Iran exported 4,400 tons of potatoes, worth about $1.76 million to Turkmenistan in the last 3 months of the previous Iranian year (December 22, 2022 through March 20, 2023). However, potato exports are expected to rise in the last 3 months of the current Iranian year (December 22, 2023 through March 19, 2024).
Overall, Iran’s potato export reached 196,000 tons, valued at $72.1 million in the first nine months of the current Iranian year, representing a 169-percent increase in value and a 154 percent increase in volume compared to the same period of the previous year.
