BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 11. Iran’s imports from neighboring countries amounted to 19.6 million tons, valued at around $26.7 billion, in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 to January 20, 2024), said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.
“During this period, Iran imported goods worth $17 billion from the UAE, $6 billion from Türkiye, $1.5 billion from Russia, $778 million from Oman and $527 million from Pakistan,” Latifi stated.
He also said that Iran imported goods worth $502 million from Iraq, $90 million from Qatar, $56.3 million from Kazakhstan, $39.6 million from Azerbaijan and $34.3 million from Turkmenistan.
Additionally, Iran imported goods worth $32.8 million from Afghanistan, $8.7 million from Kuwait, $1.2 million from Bahrain and $39.5 million from other countries.
The official said that Iran’s non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries reached about 80 million tons and $49.8 billion in 10 months.
The IRICA’s latest data shows that Iran’s total imports stood at 32.7 million tons, worth $54.3 billion, in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year, showing an 11.6 percent increase in value and a 6 percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
In general, Iran prioritizes the import of essential products for the country and imposes certain limitations on the import of goods that are domestically produced.
